Why train High Altitude at Riverside
Train high-altitude from KRAL if you want continuity with your other ratings or if KRAL is closer to home. The actual mountain operations are identical to the Redlands-based version. The transit time is the only real difference.

Scheduling at KRAL
KRAL-based mountain students typically position the aircraft to Redlands or fly directly from KRAL on training days. Plan for a 1.5 to 2 hour additional outbound and return leg time on flights to Big Bear from Riverside. Some students choose to do their high-altitude work in a focused block out of KREI to maximize flight time on the mountain rather than on the basin transit.
